THE INFORMALL DATABASE

Welcome to the InformAll Database, a searchable database with information on allergenic foods which has been developed with funding from the European Union (see www.informall.eu.com) and aims to supply credible information on allergenic foods (see more information on the database)

The InformAll database contains:

Summaries about each food suitable for a wide readership together with Technical information for specialists or the interested layperson, which has been split into a section on the clinical characteristics of the allergy together with biochemical information about the components in foods that trigger allergies and are known as allergens. This information complements that available from other databases, most of which collect information on allergens especially their amino acid sequences.

The third release is now available publicly and contains searchable technical information together with summaries of the information suitable for a lay audience about the most frequently reported animal and plant allergenic foods.

Allergy research is a rapidly advancing area. There are always new reports of food allergies and allergens. Information in this database is subject to a review process, which means there is a time-lag between a scientific publication appearing and a database entry being compiled (see details of other allergenic foods).

Other information on food allergies can be found on www.foodallergens.info together with a web-portal leading to other websites with credible information on food allergies.
