Cor a 9
Alternatve Allergen Names:
Corylin, 11S globulin
Allergen Designation:
Major
Protein Family:
11S seed storage globulin, cupin, Pfam PF00190
Sequence Known?:
Yes
Allergen accession No.s:
http://ca.expasy.org/cgi-bin/niceprot.pl?Q8W1C2
3D Structure Accession No.:
Not determined
Calculated Masses:
59127 Da
Experimental Masses:
35-40 kDa (the acidic subunit)
Oligomeric Masses:
360 kDa
Allergen epitopes:
Not known but the acid subunit has been identified as the main IgE binding region.
Allergen stability:
Process, chemical, enzymatic
Not known but likely to be thermostable like other 11S seed storage globulins.
Nature of main cross-reacting proteins:
Not known
Allergen properties & biological function:
Cor a 9 is probably a hexameric seed storage protein. Subunits are synthesised as a precursor which is cleaved into two disulphide linked subunits of approximately 20 kDa and 40 kDa, before forming the hexamer.
Allergen purification:
None reported
Other biochemical information:

Beyer et al. (2002) [670] used two 2 peptide sequences from the 40 kDa band, QGQQQFGQR and HFYLAGNPDDEHQR, to determine the sequence Q8W1C2.

The N-terminal sequence from Pastorello et al. (2002) [671] matches that from residues 23-37 of sequence Q8W1C2 with two changes.
